Making Sense of the Evidence
A thoughtful evidence sense-making process helps districts move beyond individual scores, comments, and experiences to develop a more complete understanding of instructional materials.
This session will be recorded and shared in November.
Districts gather evidence from multiple sources throughout an instructional materials adoption, including evaluation tools, reviewer comments, test runs, stakeholder feedback, and implementation information. Making sense of that evidence requires teams to look across sources, identify patterns and tensions, consider what remains uncertain, and connect findings to district priorities and selection criteria.
A clear process and shared guardrails help teams distinguish evidence from interpretation, avoid premature conclusions, and consider the full body of information before making decisions. When used consistently, this approach supports more intentional, transparent, and well grounded materials selection decisions.
